INTERNET EXPLORER IP CHANGER [SUPPORT PAGE]

The IP Address Changer is an easy to use program with a self-explanatory interface. It is compatible with any computer that has Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, or Vista along with Internet Explorer 5.0 through 7.0. Once installed, changing your IP address should be as simple selecting a country from the dropdown menu. If you're still having trouble after reviewing the information below, please contact us.

THERE ARE NO COUNTRIES APPEARING IN THE IP CHANGER DROPDOWN

You just need to get the IP/country settings from iPrivacyTools.com/update. It's important to follow the instructions on that page carefully:

• If you're using Internet Explorer with Windows XP or earlier: Make sure to RIGHT-click the link on the updating page and then save to your C:/Windows folders (the "Windows" folder is a subdirectory of your C:Drive). Then close and re-open Internet Explorer and the country selections will appear. If you don't have a C:Windows folder, you'll instead save to your C:WINNT folder.
• If you're using Internet Explorer with Windows Vista: RIGHT-click the link on the updating page and then save to your DESKTOP (or any other location that Vista will allow you to save to). Then use the "Import" selection on the IP Changer toolbar to open that file.
   
• Our most frequent issue is failure to RIGHT-click on the updating link. If you're right handed, this means using your middle-finger to click.
   

I DOWNLOADED THE IP CHANGER BUT CANNOT FIND IT ON MY COMPUTER

Try downloading again and pay close attention to where you are saving to (the Desktop is best). If your computer automatically chooses a download location, try RIGHT-clicking on the download link instead.
 

I PERFORMED THE INSTALLATION BUT THE IP CHANGER DOES NOT APPEAR

Open Internet Explorer and go to the dropdown menu for View->Toolbars. Is 'IP Tool' an option there?

YES: If 'IP Tool' is an option, select it (Check the checkbox). If you still do not see the IP/country list dropdown, it probably got pushed off to the side or hidden under some other Internet Explorer toolbar items. Simply RIGHT-click on the upper/grey part of your Internet Explorer toolbar, and you will see an option for "IP Tool". Try UNchecking and REchecking that a few times. The IP changer will pop back into place.

NO (a): If there is no selection for 'IP Tool', 1) confirm that you are logged into this computer as a user with administrative privileges, 2) under the Internet Explorer menu for Tools->Internet Options->Advanced, make sure that "Enable 3rd party browser extensions" is checked, 3) then try reinstalling the software.

NO (b): Very rarely an antivirus program might mis-identify the Internet Explorer version of the IP Changer as a virus. Currently we're only aware of one antivirus program that makes this mistake (Kaspersky). It is an understandable error, since any software that changes your browser settings (like the IP Changer) is somewhat "suspicious" under normal conditions. However, in the case of the IP Changer, you are intentionally toggling some changes on your browser (which you can turn off anytime). The problem with Kaspersky can be solved by simply going into the Kaspersky "trusted zone" and allowing the IP Changer to install and/or run. If you're running another antivirus software that blocks new software installations, try disabling it for just a minute to test installation (you can disconnect from the Internet while doing this to protect your computer). If the IP Changer installs, then you'll know that you just need to set your antivirus to ignore our program (iptool.dll).

NO (c): On extreme rare occassion (twice in 2 years) we have heard that people using "Google Desktop" software or "Google Toolbar" had problems with installation. So if you're running either, try disabling it to see if that makes a difference.

WHEN I SELECT A COUNTRY MY IP ADDRESS DOES NOT CHANGE

a) Some websites may track you with cookies or Javascript. Try clearing your cookies (e.g. on Internet Explorer go to the dropdown menu Tools->Internet Options->Delete Cookies). Then close and re-open your browser. You can also disable Javascript under Tools->Internet Options->Security->Custom->Custom Level->Disable Active Scripting.

b) Make sure that the page you're using to check your IP is fresh by clicking Reload or Refresh on your browser. Better yet, try using another website to check your IP address.
 

THE IP ADDRESS CHANGER DISAPPEARED FROM INTERNET EXPLORER

If you have many items on your Internet Explorer toolbar, some may occasionally get pushed off to the side or hidden under others. Simply RIGHT-click on the upper/grey part of your Internet Explorer toolbar, and find the option for "IP Tool". Try UNchecking and REchecking that option a few times. The IP changer will pop back into place.
 

I AM BEING ASKED FOR A USERNAME/PASSWORD WHILE SURFING

Please note that your login for the servers is the same as the login you used for downloading. If you have forgotten your username or password, please click here to have it emailed to you.
 

MY INTERNET CONNECTION SEEMS SLOWER

Keep in mind that your Internet traffic is traveling around the world (or to the country you select) before it reaches you. Also, proxy servers are subject to traffic spikes, maintenance shutdowns, etc. If you're having trouble with one server, try using another. Also, it makes the most sense to only use a proxy when you're on sites where you are concerned about your IP address being displayed. At all other times you can surf normally by selecting "Clear" on the dropdown menu.
